Fred Eaglesmith
Would love to bring Fred Eaglesmith to Athens. He is an amazing singer songwriter with an incredible band. He is from Canada and might be in the alt-country genre. but i say he is off any normal radar. He'll have you laughing and crying at the same time. An excellent performer. www.fredeaglesmith.com to check him out ! Thanks The Melting Point is a long time wished for venue by many in Athens. A place where working folks can get out for music and still be home by midnight during the week.

Suggestions
I think that a Ben Harper solo show would kill at the club, along with an Ani DiFranco show. It might fill up too quick though, so I'm not sure. Others include Garage a Trios, ALO, Citizen Cope, Fastball (yes, they're still around and still rocking), some sort of Warren Haynes solo show (again, too large?), Rilo Kiley (full band or an acoustic show, I'd pay for both), Robert Walter, Joshua Redman (anything with him would get me there), John Prine, and Rose Hill Drive (if you don't know who they are, check them out). Love the venue, can't wait to see more shows there.

ahh yes charlie hunter, garage a trois, old crow, some side projects and/or solo stuff

blues or jazz please!!!
Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ swingers, James Andrews, Bob French, Newbirth Brass Band, or any New Orleans artist.

Tommy Emmanual
Tommy Emmanual is playing ATL in mid-June. His road manager said they'd be happy to swing by Athens for a weeknight before or after the ATL gig.
Posted by Bill Ryland

Steam Powered Airplane
This is the name for an amazingly good bluegrass band from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They are going to be in the SouthEast during April and May. Meltinpoint would be a perfect venue to showcase their virtuosity. http://www.steampoweredairplane.com I've loved your past shows. Cheers, Jonny

More Bluegrass
I love the venue and the shows that have been there so far. I would love to see David Grisman he hasn't played in Athens in awhile but the DGQ put on a hell of a show. Whoever said Sons of Earl is right on I saw them in Asheville a few years ago and those folks are great and would be even better in that venue. There are alot of bluegrass fans in Athens and bring more artists of that genre would be a wise investment. Old Crow Medicine Show are a great live show saw them at the Theatre and were great. BTW loved the HBR show with Athens PHB opening great stuff folks lets bring on the bluegrass.
Posted by Ryan

Oh yeah.
Probably not @ the Melting Point itself, but booking the Flaming Lips somewhere in Athens would almost require me to come to every other show you put on for a year.

Possible Band for the Melting Point
If possible, I would really like to hear a new band to Athens play at the Melting Point. Their name is NELO, and their music is to die for!!! I've been listening to their shows around downtown Athens this past semester and really think that they would make a great addition to the Melting Point's list of shows!! I don;t kow how to contact them, but if you could get them to play there, that would be fantastic!!!

Delbert McClinton or Kim Wilson (of the Fabulous Thunderbirds). Bonnie Raitt or Billy Vera & The Beaters (www.billyvera.com) Keep the comedy nights!!!

E.G. Kight
E.G. is a superior female blues musician. It would be wonderful to hear her in Athens at the MP.

Spam Lite Orchestra
Clarence Young and the Spam Lite Orchestra were great! More, please! I grew up (well not entirely, yet)on the soul-blues-rock sounds of the 60s and 70s and these guys are the real thing (and some of them were of my generation, too). It was fun to have my 16-year old hear these songs performed live instead of on my car radio with the sound cranked up and the bass all the way down. Nice to find a venue that has music for boomers once in a while. We'll come from Atlanta again if you have them back.

GRASSFOOT for one and all!
Hey, GRASSFOOT is a Dahlonega, GA based ROCK band with certain psychedelic nuances. I host an Atlanta-based music website, and I recently discovered them. I'm so impressed, I'm trying to get the word out & help them build a following within metro Atlanta. They just released an incredible CD on Black Label Records. Please hook this band up with a date and let me know about it. I'll be very happy to help spread the word and boost attendance. ATLANTAJAMS.COM Check out the band: www.sonicbids.com/grassfoot2

KJP
If yall are at all a fan of acoustic blues then you must have Kelly Joe Phelps play here. He is an amazingly talented and original artist. His music is extremely rooted while yet at the same time it is completely original. Kelly Joe Phelps is truly one of the most overlooked artist today. In my opinion, he is the best blues musician of this time. If you don't believe me then listen for your self (particularly the album "Shine Eyed Mister Zen"). KJP would be a great addition to the already impressive list of performers to play at the melting point. Go to his website to learn more about this awsome artist. www.kellyjoephelps.net

Chris Thile
Chris Thile and his new band will come through the southeast in November and it looks like they have an open night on Nov. 16th. PLEASE.... PLEASE..... PLEASE The Melting Point would be the PERFECT place to see them.

Got to get Wichita
You need to get the country band Wichita from Atlanta in your club. They were voted the best unsigned country band in Ga. this year. Put on a great show. Seven piece band with female vocalist. They play all over the southeast. I think they are at Wake Forest University on Oct. 5th. You can book them by calling Steve Ward at 770-640-1700. I don't think you will be sorry.

Would like to see
I would like to hear my favorite local group from Athens, The Bacups, with Bryan Shaw and Bart Hardigree invited to the Melting Point. They have played many times at the Hilltop Grille on the patio and have a pretty large following. I think they would do well at the Melting Point. Also, I haven't heard Brantley Gilbert, but I hear he has a wonderful country band. He is another local band from Jefferson, who has bookings all over Georgia. I have been there twice to hear "Sons of Sailors" (The Toni Pritchett Band) and would pay to hear them anytime. They are wonderful! Please invite Dirk Howell back. He was really great Saturday night. Wayne "the train" Hancock
Wayne Hancock puts on a high energy show, part country swing, part rockabilly. He's part of that Austin group of musicians that Melting Point should tap into. http://www.waynehancock.com/

Bring in the BACUPS
This local Athens band is fabulous. They have a large fan base and I think everyone in Athens that doesn't know about them, will love 'em.

I agree with Beth (above) on Mudcat Danny Dudeck
Just make sure he brings his band and clear out some tables for dancin'. http://www.mudcatblues.com/

Love to see Gillian Welch again
Had a blast at the Melting Point when you had Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (my first time seeing them live -- it was so great I went out and bought all their albums and went to Atlanta to see them again two months later). I would love to see them again at your venue
